I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker for the last 22 years. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from St. Thomas University, here in Fredericton, NB in 2000. Directly upon completing my BSW, I began my career in clinical social work with Community Addiction Services in the Charlotte County, NB area at a satellite office for Ridgewood Addiction Services. In 2008, as the Operational Stress Injury Clinic (OSIC), Fredericton was opening its doors, I was successful in obtaining the only Social Work position at that time. In 2012 I successfully completed my Master’s Degree in Social Work through Memorial University of Newfoundland.
I specialize in concurrent treatment – treating substance use and mental health issues simultaneously as well as, trauma focused treatment. I am trained in a variety of treatment modalities. Couple Therapy is another modality that I am trained in, offering the Emotion Focused Couple Therapy approach. In 2013, I started my private practice office in Oromocto, NB. I have been practicing out of this office two evenings a week since 2013, then in January 2021 I shifted to working my private office on a part-time basis. In the fall of 2O17 I began teaching for the School of Social Work at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, NB. I have been teaching the Trauma and Social Work Practice course one or two semesters each year since that time. In February 2022 I left the OSIC Fredericton, after 14 years to take on a new position at The Newly Institute. For nine months, I worked there part-time as a therapist providing primarily Accelerated Resolution Therapy as well as, group therapy.
In November 2022, I made the commitment to my private practice on a full-time basis.
